The state in this tower has a message: Erudition guide thee! This is a hint that requires you do the following: use the Erudition gesture in front of the statue. In doing so, a secret ladder will be revealed. To obtain the Erudition gesture, visit Thorp at Church of Irith (see image). He will reward you the gesture after giving him the Academy Glintstone Key.
