Although the outfit system allows you to wear whatever you please, if any of the items contain stat bonus (i.e. Armor, Resistance, etc.), those do not apply when equipping the outfit. In order for the bonus stats to be applied, you must have the actual clothing item in your inventory. Do not sell or dismantle these. They need to be equipped on top of your custom outfit to get the bonuses.
