Don’t attack Malak at first and also avoid allowing 30 stacks of Dark Rage. Start with killing the Assault Droids to build up armor shreds from Zaalbar to throw onto Malak. You will want to get 4 or 5 armor shreds before you start attacking Malak. Attack slowly, when the droids are gone, spread attacks on the pods. Let Malak absorb the "crit immune" pod so Malak can no longer inflict fear.
