You should always keep aware of your surroundings in Gotham Knights and make sure that you especially keep a look out for chests whilst in the overworld. Chests appear all over the map and contain materials and other goodies that can be very useful to you as you progress through the story missions or simply roam through the streets to rid them of crime.
