Sometimes in hard to see places there are enemies lurking. This can get you killed easily so if you're unsure of a new area, keep a good distance try spamming the Lock-on button (click Right-Stick using a controller). You'll know right away if there's an enemy nearby because a glowing white indicator will appear, signaling that a foe is ahead.
