Proton Packs can’t actually destroy ghosts, but they are still needed to catch them. Proton Packs act similarly to a gravitational pull, so once you have focused on a ghost and have tethered it, you can move the ghost gradually towards the Trap that you have already placed on the ground and opened it, ready to catch the ghost.
