To follow main objectives (yellow waypoints in the top left) you can use the Visor to help guide your way. If you're not sure where to go next, activate your visor (click the right Thumbstick) and a compass at the top of the visor shows you the distance to the next objective along with the point of interest. It might not be obvious right away so use this to keep progressing through the game.
