Don’t stick to one weapon, build up your weapon arsenal and upgrade frequently. Leveling up weapons happens naturally by using them. Before you know it, you’ll have max level weapons for all types of enemy encounters. Switching weapons pauses the game, so take advantage. Ammo and Raritanium is plentiful and scattered throughout the maps, so don’t horde. Reap the benefits sooner than later.
