Portals in Splitgate cannot be removed or overwritten by another player unless they have a grenade. That means you can use portals to stop enemy players from creating portals in areas you don't want enemies to access. Be careful, though. Enemies can use grenades to blow up your portals. You have to be ready to constantly and quickly create portal blocks as they are taken down.
