It's tempting to grab the core of enemies once exposed but it's not always the best plan of action. Consider your surroundings, are there a bunch of enemies around? Are there enemies with projectile capabilities? Then it's probably best to avoid a Core Grab in those moments to avoid interruption Only do it when it's safe unless you have Core Grab Speed Boost unlocked or you're one-on-one.
