Thumper requires some twitch reflexes. Unfortunately, the time it takes to move the Left Analog stick is slower than simply using the Directional Pad (D-pad). For jumps, turns, and pounds it's quicker and more accurate to simply tap a direction especially when dealing with quick actions.
