To get a fast start at the beginning of a race, you need to rev up your engine. Hold the gas pedal down just enough by not pressing RT down completely. The needle should be hovering above the redline . Watch the countdown and right after the 1 count and before the announcer says "GO!" gun it and hold down the gas pedal (RT) fully. You'll boost forward and the announcer will confirm it.
