Breaking an enemy reduces their amount of turns in battle or interrupts powerful attacks. This is key in gaining an advantage. If a known weakness is a melee attack, BOOST it before attacking to break down multiple shields at once. The goal is to reduce an enemy's shield to 0. Even if the melee attack does little damage, a hit will break a shield. Elemental attacks generally only break 1 shield.
