When you encounter a Mind Flayer (a spell caster with an octopus head) in the Prison of Hope, you can easily kill them behind prison cell doors. Lure them and go behind an open cell door. Slash or pierce the Mind Flayer through the bars of the prison cell. Keep some distance and don't allow them to cast inside.
