If your equipped weapon is not a close combat melee weapon, you can still mine resources such as Photon Chunks/Quartz, Monotite, Dualomite, Trinite, etc. without having to use projectiles. Get close to the mineral ore you wish to mine and Jump. While holding the Jump button, also hold down the Normal Attack button and you will spam ground attacks on the mining ore and destroy it quicker.
