In order to find hidden humans, items, and secret levels, you can't only focus on destroying enemies. There are destructible objects scattered in each stage such as canisters, boxes, walls, and plants that can reveal secrets when destroyed. In between shooting enemies, focus your fire on the environment for a chance at power-ups, extra life, weapons, multipliers, and other secrets.
