Every character has basic attacks and skills. Skills do more damage but consume MP. But thanks to your demons very frequently refilling your MP in between battles you can play most areas using skills first and that will be the best way because only skills have elemental advantages along with higher damage. And thanks to your demons you rarely have to worry about using up all your MP.
