You don’t have to keep catching the same Pokemon over and over again to complete your Pokedex Entry. You can also battle them (use Super Effective moves against them), feed them bait, or even see them use certain moves in battle. This can be helpful if you want to keep completing your Pokedex but run out of pokeballs.
