Unfortunately the Workbench can only be used to repair some of the lesser quality gear. To repair your Bronze equipment for free, make sure you have a Forge crafted. The repair button is located in same spot as the Workbench and you can repair Bronze and other higher quality armors and weapon by using the Forge.
