One way to make Obolites when you're desperate is with the Parasite Extractor. You can gain upwards of 50+ Obolites by detaching Parasites. Before moving onto a big event such as a boss battle or leaving your current Biome, consider backtracking and looking for Parasites that you've abandoned. Attach them and trade them for Obolites to fund the items and upgrades you really want.
