Unlock Turtle or Mermaid form as soon as possible. This shouldn't be too hard as they are one of the earlier ones to unlock. Turtle and Mermaid Form allows Nobody to swim in any body of water in the overworld. Swimming allows you to traverse the area faster, but can also reveal chests and secret areas.
