You can zoom into the mini-map during battle by pressing the Left Stick. This may not be obvious right away since the game shows the button as "Change Map", but it is very useful when you're traversing through buildings or tight areas. It also helps during Divine Beast battles, you'll be able to survey the surrounding enemies better and find targets easier.
