If you find yourself in a dangerous or unknown territory, consider using a Town Portal Scroll before you progress further unless there is a Waypoint nearby. This helps protect you in case you're not strong enough for a new area. If you end up dying, you'll at least have a quicker way to retrieve your corpse rather than have to travel all the way from town back to the area where you died.
