When fishing, there are moments where an on-screen indicator flashes a button you need to press quickly. This button can be predicted. Pay attention to the direction that your fish is moving. If it is swimming underwater left or right, be prepared to press a left or right Bumper button (using controller). If the fish is about to jump into the air, prepare to press the Trigger.
