When you're mobbed or overwhelmed by a group of enemies, don't be afraid to backtrack and retreat into areas you've already cleared. Cleared areas are safe because no new enemies will spawn and you can pick them off one by one or in smaller groups as they follow you. Rather than rush into a mob, use this method to distance and lure enemies so they have less of a chance to ambush you.
