To maintain your gear at the highest levels, it's worth upgrading Rare (Blue) weapons and armor. It only requires Leather to reach max level, which is cheaper than leveling an Epic (which requires Titanium). If you decide to Improve Rarity to Epic, you can add a Mod of your choice as well. This is a more resource-efficient upgrade path. If you find gear that has attributes you like, upgrade it!
